Boating Safety

Safety on Lake Lavon is our primary concern. There are several ways to contact either the Coast Guard Auxiliary or local emergency services.

Boaters equipped with a marine radio can send out a distress call on channel 16. This is the emergency channel monitored by all emergency services personnel at the lake. If we are on the lake we will respond, but this channel is also monitored by Texas Parks & Wildlife and the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Don't be afraid to call if you need help; anything from a life threatening emergency to a mechanical breakdown is legitimate. Even if you're lost and can't find your way back to the marina, we'll come to help. However, please keep in mind that falsely reporting an emergency or a call for assistance is a crime - and if you do so with the Coast Guard it's a federal offense.

911 dialed on a cell phone will reach an emergency dispatcher. In some areas a 911 call may be routed to Wylie's emergency services dispatcher, in some areas it may be routed to the Collin County sheriff's office.
